Forty Days of Praying the Word of God: Day 27

“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.”

Psalm 127:3

Lord, today I pray for our children, and I hardly know where to begin. My heart is grieving, as must Yours be.

Father, I pray for repentance to sweep this nation for the blood of the innocent we have spilled through abortion. I pray that You will turn the tide that we cannot turn, Lord, and You will put an end to the abomination of killing our unborn. I pray that You would move, by Your Spirit, upon every woman contemplating an abortion right now, changing her heart and her mind. I pray that the demand for abortions would be eliminated, so that the suppliers will fall away. And I lift up to You all who have had abortions, and I pray salvation, mercy and healing over them. Would You pour out Your grace upon the mothers and the fathers, and lead them to their own surrender.

I come against the schemes of the enemy against our children through transgenderism, and I pray for Your truth to reign victorious in this battle. Lord, protect this generation from the mutilation being done to them. I pray again for repentance to come – to parents, to doctors, to all who advocate for evil, thinking it is good. I pray that You would lift the veil of deception and expose the works of the devil.

I pray for our children living in neglect and abuse and I ask that You would cover them. I pray that You will be their great Defender, their Comforter, and their Deliverer.

I pray for the children living with hunger and ask that You would open Your hand to them and satisfy their physical hunger, emotional hunger, and spiritual hunger.

I pray for those who are struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts, and I ask that You would intervene on their behalf. I pray You will send forth Your light, and lead them out of darkness, and into Your presence. I pray for healing for mental illnesses, for physical disease, and for the emotional trauma that our children are suffering.

Father, would You surround our children, and shield them from what the enemy has planned for them. I declare that You are a God of generations, and that You have a destiny for every child. Would You set a guard over each of those destinies, and would You turn this war for our children back on the enemy.

And I pray that all of this would be accomplished through Your great power, working in and through Your Church. May we continue to step up to the front lines and speak Your truth, and be Your hands and feet, and Your heart of love for these broken ones. Empower Your people to become a force against the darkness that wants to destroy a generation.

In the mighty Name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

Forty Days of Praying the Word of God: Day 26

“Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the wild animals that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You can’t eat from any tree in the garden’?”

Genesis 3:1

Father, Your word is true and Your heart is good! I pray this will be the foundation for our lives with You. I pray that in every believer’s home where Your Word is being challenged by the lies of the enemy, Your Holy Spirit would fall with power.

I pray for those who are feeling their doubts, who believe but need You to help their unbelief, the ones who want to run their race but cannot seem to untangle themselves from the lies that hold them back. Father, would You show Yourself to them? Would You enable them to put their doubt to rest and separate the lies from Your truth? Help their unbelief, Lord.

I pray for the ones who have wandered from Your truth, who have heard the voice of the enemy with his “did God really say?”, and fallen for his lie. Bring them back, Father. Go after them with Your loving and merciful truth, open their blinded eyes, and turn them back. I pray that You will bring them again to sound doctrine, to the freedom found only in Your truth.

In this way, Father, strengthen Your Church. Surround her with Your Spirit, and bring strength to her weak places, hope to her discouragement, and healing to her wounds. For Your enemy is roaming, Lord, looking for those he can devour. I pray that You will guard Your Bride against his desire to consume her.

Today, Jesus, would we hear Your voice again. Today, would Your truth rise bigger than our doubts. Today, would You come into our wilderness and lead us out.

In Your Name I pray. Amen.

Forty Days of Praying the Word of God: Day 25

“Lord, the God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven above or on earth below—You who keep Your covenant of love with Your servants who continue wholeheartedly in Your way.”

1 Kings 8:23

Father, You alone are God and there is no other. I thank You that You are a God of covenant, a God of love, who keeps His covenant with His people.

Lord, make us a whole hearted people! I pray that Your Spirit will be poured out on Your church, healing our divisive ways, healing our complacency. Call us up higher than we are, Lord. I pray You would heal our half heartedness, our divided hearts toward You. I pray that You will call for an end to unholy alliances, unholy friendships, unholy truces, and that You would call us once again to walk as the sanctified, holy, called out people of God.

I pray that all other ways but Your ways would quickly become dead ends for us. May we come back into alignment with Your footsteps, Jesus, and follow only after You.

In Your jealousy for us Lord, would You rise up and contend with the one who contends for the affections and the wholeheartedness of Your people. May You be our first and only love, may ours eyes become fixed on You alone, and may we find our delight in following only after You.

Heal our hearts, Lord, and make them wholly Yours.

In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.

Forty Days of Praying the Word of God: Day 24

“On the Sabbath we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there. One of those listening was a woman from the city of Thyatira named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message.”

Acts 16:13-14

Thank You Father, that You are the opener of hearts to Your gospel! Today I lift up every place where Your word will be preached, and I ask that You would open the hearts of those listening.

I pray for divine meetings to be set ups for Your gospel, Lord. That as Your people come in and go out, they would encounter those whose hearts You have opened to the gospel, and that we would be obedient to speak Your word to them.

Open the mouths of Your people Lord. Give the timid ones courage to speak and give the bold ones wisdom as they tell Your good news. I pray that in every gathering of believers, no agenda of ours will usurp Yours. I pray for sensitivity in Your pastors today, Father, sensitivity to the leading of Your Spirit.

Father, they were looking for a place to pray, and instead found people who needed to hear Your Word. Oh, may Your people be willing to forego our own plans in order to obey the moving of Your Spirit. May we have eyes to see what we are not looking for, and a readiness to obey with the gospel.

I pray for Your Word to run swiftly today Lord, through the streets of our cities and the nations. And I pray that You will prepare the hearts of those who will receive it with joy.

In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.

Forty Days of Praying the Word of God: Day 23

“Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen on your walls; they will never be silent, day or night. There is no rest for you, who remind the Lord. Do not give Him rest until He establishes and makes Jerusalem the praise of the earth.”

Isaiah 62:6-8

I pray for the watchmen, Lord. I pray for all those You have called to stand on the wall of their home, their church, their city, their nation. I lift up all who have heard the call to pray, who have had an increased desire for prayer, and an increase in the Word of God burning within them. Gather us up, Lord. Set us upon our walls and teach us to pray. Give us discernment, eyes to see and ears to hear what the Spirit is saying.

Father, whatever has silenced Your people, I pray You will break it off of us. May what has muzzled our prayer lives perish in the name of Jesus. I pray that a sound will begin to rise from Your Church, the sound of declaration, the sound of intercession, the sound of the watchmen who take no rest, and give no rest.

I pray that ceaseless prayer would begin to rise from the earth. May we humble ourselves before You, seek Your face and pray, and stand in the gap on behalf of the land. Oh Lord, call us to turn from our fear, our anger, and our disunity, and cry out for mercy upon a sinful nation.

I pray for faith in prayer, Lord, for faith to rise up and compel us to give no rest to our God, for we know that You hear us, we know that You will answer us.

“And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.”

Revelation 5:8

Let prayer begin to rise like incense from Your people. I pray for full bowls, Lord, full bowls! Call the watchmen. Show us our wall and strengthen us to stand and pray.

In the beautiful Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Forty Days of Praying the Word of God: Day 22

“While they were traveling, He entered a village, and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who also sat at the Lord’s feet and was listening to what He said. But Martha was distracted by her many tasks, and she came up and asked, “Lord, don’t You care that my sister has left me to serve alone? So tell her to give me a hand.” The Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Luke 10:38-42

Lord God, what is it that is distracting Your people today? What keeps us from just being with You? What has us accusing Your heart of not caring?

I pray for the distracted ones Lord, and I ask that You help us focus our attention on You. I pray that we will begin to turn from our many tasks, and make our way to Your presence. Whatever is distracting us Lord, I pray that it will fall away as we turn our attention to the better choice. May all distractions take a back seat to You. I pray that politics will get off of the stage and stop clamoring for Your spotlight. I pray that finances, world events, and even our health issues will move out of our way so that we can see You clearly.

Forgive us Lord, for when we have judged Your heart. Forgive us for demanding that our tasks, and the many things we are worried about, be Your priorities. Forgive us for assuming that You don’t care just because things are not being done according to our plans. Forgive us our accusations against our brothers and sisters who choose being with You, over doing for You.

Forgive us Father, for welcoming You in, and then choosing to stay busy. Forgive us for believing that preparing for Your presence is more important than being in Your presence. Forgive us for finding our tasks more important than hanging on Your every word. Forgive us, God, for making it about us.

Lord, would You heal our distractions, and bring us to Your feet?

In Your mighty Name I pray. Amen.

Forty Days of Praying the Word of God: Day 21

“And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.”

Acts 4:31

Father, we are in need of a filling – a place shaking filling of Your Holy Spirit. Fill us up, I pray, and send us out to speak Your word, to be light in the dark. I pray that in every corner of the earth, Your Church will begin to fill up with Holy Spirit power!

I pray that You will pour out Your Spirit, stirring dreams and visions and prophecies in Your people. I pray that we will be led by Your Spirit, that we will walk in Your Spirit, and that Your Church will be visible fruit-bearers of Your Spirit, walking in greater and greater measures of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

I pray that our homes, our marriages, our families, our workplaces – in every place and in every relationship – we will bear evidence of Your Spirit within us.

I pray for a fresh move of Your Spirit, a fresh outpouring, to bring both power and conviction to the Body of Christ. May Your Spirit not be quenched in Your people, Lord, but may we instead match the very rhythm of our steps to the steps of the Spirit of God. I pray that we will once again walk in the healing, delivering, power of Your Spirit – healing the sick, breaking off oppression, lifting the downcast, setting captives free. Rid us of our programs designed to entertain. Strip us of our need for the attention and approval of men. Reduce us again to be lovers and followers of Jesus who pray for the boldness to do what You call us to do. May we be emptied of wise and persuasive words, and filled with the power of Your Spirit.

Father, I pray that You will begin to move through our congregations with the power of Your Spirit, cleansing us of what makes us lethargic and lukewarm, and breathing on the flame within us so that a passion for Your truth and Your ways will burn in us again. May we abandon all that is not of You, everything we have invented to make us feel religious, everything that pacifies our flesh while quenching Your Spirit. Come like fire, and burn the hay and stubble of fruitless works, works done by us and for us. Wake us from our slumber, Lord, by the shaking of Your Holy Spirit.

Empty us of us, and fill us with You, Lord God.

In the Name of Jesus. Amen.
