“At that time the disciples came to Jesus and said, “Who is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” …And He said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” –  Matthew 18:1, 3-4

Something in us is so prone to the desire to be great, lured by the idea of more, better, greater. So gullible to the lie.

“In fact, God knows that when you eat it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”  Then the woman saw that the tree was good for food and delightful to look at, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom. So she took some of its fruit and ate it; she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.” Genesis 3:5-6

And the lie is everywhere. “You are not great, and what you have and who you are is not enough. And God is holding out on you.”

So many of us spend our lives trying to overcome something that was never true in the first place.

Earth questions how do we become great and heaven answers become children.

Children believe they are enough until someone tells them they aren’t. They believe they have everything they need, until someone tells them they don’t. They believe they are loved, until they aren’t.

The reason we can become like little children, is because we have a Father who will never tell us that we aren’t enough.

We will never spend a day unloved, or experience the pain of a broken promise. We will never be neglected, unwanted, or made to feel like a burden.

We will know that we are beautiful, perfectly made…never told that we are too this or not enough that.

It is because our Father is who He is, that we are able to become like children.

Little children don’t seek greatness. They believe their Father is great, and that’s enough for them.

That is their humility and that is what makes them great.
